How to calculate exact age
1. Enter the date of birth in YYYY-MM-DD format.
2. Optionally change the “as of” date (today is the default).
3. Read the result in years, months, and days.
4. Adjust the date if you want age on another day in the past or future.

Child’s age for a form
A child born 2018-03-12, calculated on 2026-08-11. The result shows full years plus months and days — handy for preschool or sports registration.

How we count full years, months, and days
We start with the calendar year difference, then adjust months and days. If the target day falls earlier in the month than the birthday, we borrow days from the previous month. This matches the “completed” years and months that school and sports forms usually expect.
Calendar age vs. “about” age
Someone might say a child is “almost 8” when they are 7 years and 11 months old by the calendar. Official records need precision. The calculator helps avoid mistakes near a birthday boundary — especially when comparing a date with a competition or enrollment deadline.
Privacy of birth dates
A date of birth is personal data. That is why we calculate it locally and do not keep a history on an account. After you close the tab, values disappear from the form when you refresh. That is a deliberate design choice for these tools.
Form tip
When a form asks only for completed years, use the year count from the result. When it needs a full date, the calculator still helps you verify before submitting. Also watch time zones around midnight for “today” — the browser’s local date is the reference.
