How to resize an image
1. Choose an image file from your device.
2. Set width and/or height.
3. Leave “Keep aspect ratio” on unless you deliberately want different proportions.
4. Click “Resize” and download the result.

Shrink a large photo to 400×400 px (with aspect ratio on, fit the shorter side first, then crop elsewhere if you need a square).

A width of 1200 px is usually enough for articles — a smaller file loads faster.
Family print preview
Shrink for a quick preview; for high-quality printing, do not go below the resolution your print shop requires.
When to use it
• When a form rejects dimensions that are too large.
• When you want faster page loads.
• When you need a quick resize without Photoshop.
When it is not enough
• Enlarging a small photo does not add detail — the image will look soft.
• Precise cropping and layers need a full image editor.
• Very large RAW files are not supported — export to JPG or PNG first.
Dimensions vs. file size
Reducing pixel dimensions usually cuts file size sharply because there are fewer pixels. That is often more effective than JPEG compression alone on huge phone photos (e.g. 4000 px wide down to 1200 px for the web).
Aspect ratio and distortion
Turning off aspect ratio stretches the image. Leave it on unless you are deliberately fitting an unusual template. For a square avatar, scale first, then crop in an editor with a crop tool.
Photo privacy
Family photos should not pass through unknown servers on the way. A local canvas means the file stays on your device until you download and share it yourself.
Choosing width for each channel
A product thumbnail, a post cover, and a slide photo have different ideal widths. Instead of one universal file, prepare two or three sizes for where you publish — the resizer does that in a minute.
